3D Scanning / Photogrammetry
Anatomy Museum - Master's Degree Project
The diploma research project I led at the University of Glasgow involved digitization of anatomical specimen from the collection of University’s Anatomy Museum.
Digitization included seven specimens preserved using different methods, some of them being wet preservations stored in glass containers.
A difficult task of non-destructive digitization of wet specimen turned out successfully with a high-quality outcome.
Digitized 3D models implemented in the application and photographs of the real specimens.
Virtual Anatomy Museum: Facilitating Public Engagement Through an Interactive Application
More about the research and methods of digitization can be read in a book chapter of Biomedical Visualisation volume 7 published by Springer.
Personal project involved separate digitization of skull and compost surface. The skull was digitized in a studio setting.
Both models needed a significant edit in 3D and 2D software.
To increase realism specular maps (2D maps indicating the amount of light reflected by the surface) were created in Photoshop and Substance Painter.
